There is something naturally relaxing about cruising. Maybe it’s the soothing sounds of the ship gliding through the open sea. Or maybe it is the gradual change of scenery as you sit and enjoy a nice glass of wine.
Personally for me it is all of the above, and then some. I love watching the sun rise and set on the sea. The stars at night are the brightest you will ever see. It is so peaceful sitting on your balcony. So quiet.
Cruising is one of the best ways to “sample” several destinations. You are in a floating hotel. Unpack once and wake up every day in a new place. Cruising in a foreign destination is perfect for those who have never traveled internationally or who have special dietary needs. You will always know that you can come back to your English speaking ship and eat food that is made to your dietary needs.
I am a BIG preacher of fully immersing yourself in local cultures and eating the local foods. But, I do realize that some people may not be ready to jump into the local scene so fully. Cruising is a great way to see something the first time, and then know where you want to go back to really experience the food, people and hidden gems that are off the touristy path.
